
You can scan a document and save it in PDF format using one of the following methods:
METHOD 1: USING PAPERPORT SE:
1. Open PaperPort. Click WINDOWS/START -> (ALL) PROGRAMS -> SCANSOFT PAPERPORT 11 -> PAPERPORT.
2. If the Scan or Get Photo panel is not already displayed on the left side of the screen, click FILE -> SCAN OR GET PHOTO. The Scan panel should then appear.
3. Under Select a Profile you can choose from several pre-configured scanning profiles:
4. Click the SETTINGS button.
5. Click the OUTPUT tab.
6. From the FILE TYPE dropdown, choose PDF Image (*pdf).
7. Click the SET tab.
8. If you are creating a multi-page document, ensure that CREATE SINGLEPAGE ITEMS is unchecked. Click OK.
9. Ensure that SHOW CAPTURE ASSISTANT is checked.
10. Place the document you wish to scan in the automatic document feeder or on the scanner glass depending on your model machine. And click SCAN in PaperPort.
11. When the scanning is complete, you will be prompted with the following options:
a. Scan More Pages. (Select this option if you wish to add additional pages to this scan job. Place any additional pages on the scanner before selecting this option.)
b. Scan Other Side. (Select this option to perform a manual duplex scanof documents with images on both sides of a page. Turn the page before selecting this option.)
c. Done. (Select this option if you are finished scanning.)
12. When you are finished scanning you will be taken to the PaperPort Desktop and the scanned document should appear.
METHOD 2: USING THE CONTROL CENTER:
1. Open the ControlCenter by clicking WINDOWS/START-> (ALL) PROGRAMS -> BROTHER -> XXX-XXXX (Where XXX-XXXX is the model number of the machine) -> CONTROLCENTER3. The ControlCenter3 application will be loaded in theTask Tray near the system clock. (It appears as a blue square labeled CC3.)
2. Double-click on the ControlCenter3 icon located in the Task Tray to launch the program window.
3. Click on CONFIGURATION -> SCAN.
4. Choose the type of scan you are completing. The choices are IMAGE, FILE, E-MAIL.
5. The Scan to configuration window will appear.
6. The SOFTWARE BUTTON tab configures the Scan to button within theControlCenter3 software interface. The DEVICE BUTTON tab configures the Scan to key on the Brother machine. Choose the tab you want to configure.
7. On the File Type dropdown, choose PDF or SECURE PDF as your file type.
a) If you choose SECURE PDF, click the Key icon to set the password, then click OK.
8. Use the slider to specify the File Size from SMALL to LARGE.
9. Once you have configured the file type, click OK. All subsequent scans will use this setting.
10. Place the document to be scanned on the scanner Flatbed or into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), depending on the model of your machine.
11. Place the document to be scanned on the scanner Flatbed or AutomaticDocument Feeder (ADF) depending on the model of your Brother machine.
12. If you want to scan using the Control Center software:
a) Click SCAN and choose the type of scan you would like to complete. The choices are IMAGE, FILE, E-MAIL.
b) The document will now scan.
13. If you want to scan using the Scan key on the Brother machine:
a) Press the SCAN key on the Brother machine.
b) Depending on your model, you may have to choose SCAN TO PC and press OK.
c) Select the type of scan you would like to complete. You may have to scroll to view all of the selections and press OK.
d) If prompted, choose your connection type. For network users, choose the computer you are scanning to and press OK.
e) Press START to begin the process. The document will now scan.
